The first tenants have begun to move into 33 new-build homes at Blackwater, Newmarket,
on the outskirts of Stornoway.
The houses in the new scheme named An Allt Dubh (The Black Stream, after a watercourse
which meanders through the area) are the first stage of a 74 property house development
being built by Calmax Construction for Hebridean Housing Partnership who contended
with a very wet and challenging summer to bring this phase of construction to completion.
Jens Johansen, one of the new tenants, said: “The house and view are perfect, I’m
so happy.”
Gordon Macleod, chairperson of HHP said: “The exceptional quality of these homes
is down to the skilled workmanship of Calmax Construction and our shared commitment
to community development.
“The milestone marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing quality
homes and we look forward to the continued growth and positive impact this project
will bring to the area.”
