Andrew Walker has been elected as the new councillor for the Benbecula and North Uist.
Mr Walker contested the seat in a straight fight between the SNP’s Roslyn MacPherson.
Voting took place on Thursday with the count taking place in Lochmaddy Hall.
437 people voted for Mr Walker while Mrs MacPherson received 302 votes.
There were 739 valid papers, 31 rejected ballot papers. he turnout was 32.12%
