New leadership for the comhairle

A ballot was held at the council this morning.
Point councillor Alasdair Macleod was the other contender for the job.
Norman A Macdonald won by 20 votes to 11.
Convenor takes up the official chains of office
Stornoway North councillor Roddie Mackay has been elected as the new leader of the comhairle.

Roddie Mackay 18 votes
Donald Manford 13 votes
Meanwhile, Norman A Macdonald has been voted as the new convenor of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
The Uig councillor held the same post in the last council term.
