The comhairle has established a new panel to deal with planning applications.

Until now the environment services panel considered planning matters.

Approving the set-up of the Planning Applications Board will be one of the first actions for the new council next week.

The planning board would meet every two months - in February, April, June, August, October and December - to determine applications for planning permission,  consent for listed buildings or conservation area development.

Up to 12 councillors will be voted onto the board with at least one member from each electoral ward.
