New café opens at Barra airport

Passengers travelling through Barra airport will be able to enjoy a menu of meals, snacks and drinks from this week as the new cafe opens.
Seonaidh Morrison recently moved back home from Cornwall to take over the enterprise.
He said: “I’m looking forward to creating a menu of tasty snacks and meals, along with a selection of hot and cold drinks not just for passengers travelling through the airport but also to be enjoyed by the local community.”
“Delicious, seasonal food using local ingredients will be the key to the menu,” he added.
The menu will include full breakfasts, toasties, filled rolls, cakes and hot drinks, plus regularly changing specials such as roasted butternut squash and farro salad with pesto, crispy kale and a balsamic glaze, Pulled pork loaded fries, Smoked haddock rarebit and Barra Burritos to name just a few.
The development of the café space was part of a significant investment to extend and refurbish the terminal building by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) to improve the passenger experience.
The works included the installation of a new commercial catering kitchen along with
an improved seating area with views out across the world-
