Andrew Thin has been appointed as the chair of the Crofting Commission.
He takes over from Malcolm Mathieson, who has served as convenor since 2021.
Mr Thin has served as a commissioner since 2022 and previously served as a commissioner
in the Crofters Commission.
Gary Campbell, chief executive of the Crofting Commission, welcomed the appointment,
saying: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew Thin as the new Chair of the Crofting
Commission. His extensive knowledge and understanding of rural Scotland will be a
tremendous asset to the organisation. I am confident that under his leadership, the
Commission will continue to thrive and deliver for crofters across the country.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Malcolm Mathieson for his dedicated
service and significant contributions during his time asconvenor. He has been instrumental
in shaping the commission’s work and has left a lasting legacy.”
Andrew Thin stated: “I am honoured and excited to take on the role of chair of the
