A team from the Nicolson Institute have reached the semi-final stages of this year’s National Gaelic Schools’ Debate Competition.

Sixteen schools took part in the first two rounds of the event in Stornoway this week.

The Nicolson is one of four teams with the highest points to will progress to the final stages in Glasgow and Edinburgh at the end of this month.

They face Gairloch High School to debate "We have to assume that detailed information about us keeps us safe and healthy in today’s world."

Also in the draw are Glasgow Gaelic School and Lochaber High School.

Two teams will then go forward to the final on the topic “Glasgow should be named as Scotland’s capital city instead of Edinburgh."
