The charity, Music in Hospitals (MiH), has organised a series of events to bring live music to people in care homes in the Western Isles this week.

 

Professional musicians Derek Richardson and Davy McMartin with perform with their their guitars, indoor pipes, harmonicas, concertina, banjo, whistles, mandolin, mouth organ and percussion.

 

Their performances will take place within care homes and hospitals on Lewis, Harris, North Uist, South Uist and Skye.

 

The charity is embarking upon its first extended concert tour of the islands, giving nine live performances.

 

Alison Frazer, Chief Executive of Music in Hospitals said: “Many local people in long-term care will be able to participate in a shared musical and social occasion and we hope the performances are enjoyed by residents, service users, care staff, families and friends.”
