Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, Rhoda Grant, has met with the salvage team responsible for the refloating of the stricken oil rig, the Transocean Winner.
Mrs Grant also met with HM Coastguard staff to learn more about their search and rescue operations.
Mrs Grant said “I was grateful of the opportunity to meet with the team and be briefed on the current situation in relation to the rig.
"I share the disappointment that the rig will not be decommissioned locally however, what is paramount is the safe removal of the rig from Broadbay.
She said she was reassured that environmental and debris monitoring will be continue long after the rig’s removal from the area while exclusion zones will be lifted as soon as it is safe to do so.
"The salvage team continue to keep the community informed and is proposing further public briefings and discussions which I know will be welcomed by all concerned.”
