Western Isles ferry services continue to be badly disrupted on Monday due to ongoing bad weather.

Sailings will be affected by a gale and rough seas, particularly over the morning.

More ferry disruptions are likely on Tuesday.

For Monday, the MV Clansman is operating an amended timetable from South Uist and Barra. The Lord of the Isles outbound voyage will be delayed.

The first sailing on the Tarbert - Skye route will be attempted at noon by the Hebridean Isles. Berthing at Skye is not guaranteed due to the adverse conditions and strong gusts.

The service on the Lochmaddy route is being reviewed on a sailing-by-sailing basis. The Isle of Arran is operating an amended timetable and hopes to make two return trips. She will depart North Uist at at 12.30pm but it may be too hazardous to berth at Skye.

The MV Loch Seaforth was weather bound in Stornoway and did not operate her freight run this morning. Her first passenger voyage was also cancelled. If the promised lull in the weather materialises, her skipper is ready to make a run across the Minch. However, a high swell may affect the route later. All sailings on the route are on amber alert until conditions are forecast to ease on Tuesday afternoon.

Morning sailings on both inter-island routes have been cancelled.

A forecast of storm conditions in the southern Minch on Tuesday may affect the Lochboisdale - Mallaig run, particularly in the morning.
