Alice Macmillan of Point, Lewis, scooped top place in the hotly contested solo singing competition for teenagers at the Royal National Mòd in Glasgow. The event is confined to first prizewinners under 19 years of solo singing competitions from previous national mòds.

 

Talia Graham and Kirsty Nicolson from Lewis jointly won the Alexander Hamilton trophy for the highest mark in Gaelic in the solo singing for learners between 13 and 15 years.

Talia of Coll was second overall in the girl’s competition while Kirsty from Point was awarded third prize.

Aimee Macinnes, Doirean Marks and Anna Macleod of Sgoil Lionacleit have been competing at the Glasgow Mòd.

For poetry recitation in the 9-10 years learners competition, Lily McDowall of Lochs, Lewis, was presented with the Cowal Trophy for winning first prize.

Dual, Fèis Eilean an Fhraoich, won the teenagers’ ceilidh group competition

Roy Morrison of Ness won first prize in the under-13 accordion competition
