A 16-year-old missing island boy has been found.

Brian Finlayson from Lewis was traced safe and well on Saturday afternoon.

An extensive land, air and sea search was launched after concerns for his well being on Friday night.

Six volunteer coastguard units, Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team, the coastguard search helicopter and Stornoway lifeboat were involved in looking for the teenager.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police can confirm that Brian Finlayson has been traced safe and well in the Stornoway area.

"The public are thanked for their assistance."
