An islander who dubbed paint on the wall of a building associated with Mackenzie’s mill in Stornoway has appeared in court.

Angus Macleod of The Acres Hostel, Island Road, Stornoway, was convicted of the vandalism which took place in October.

Sheriff David Sutherland banned the 57-year from drinking alcohol for the next two years.

In addition, he was ordered to undertake 120 hours of unpaid community service work.
