The chair of Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Allan Macdonald, has been announced as the new chairman of MG Alba.
Mr Macdonald will take up the role from 1 January.
The native Gaelic speaker had a career in production and management within Gaelic broadcasting spanning 40 years across radio and television.
This has included being the chief executive of mneTV, and a director of digital and television producer, purpleTV.
His work includes 12 years with the BBC, two years with Grampian TV and 25 years in the independent television sector with experience in news and current affairs in radio, television and the press, as well as being an executive producer, producer and director of a wide variety of general programmes including documentary, religion, comedy and music.
He will step down from Bòrd na Gàidhlig on 31 December and starts his new job the next day.
His appointment follows an independent selection process undertaken by Ofcom and is agreed by the Scottish Government.
