Met Office strong winds warning for Western Isles

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of strong winds for the Western Isles and West Highlands.

Wind speeds reaching to severe gales levels -  possibly touching storm force at its peak - may cause disruption to travel from the second half of tomorrow (Wed) into Thursday morning.

Winds are set to pick up over the day as the deepening north Atlantic depression heads our way with the official warning time commences at 4pm on Wednesday and runs until 9am the following day.

The Met Office highlights: “A spell of strong winds will affect parts of north and northwest Scotland over the period.

“Winds will initially be south or southeasterly, but turn westerly during Thursday morning.

“Gusts will reach 50-60 mph widely with 65-75mph possible in places, especially around exposed coasts.”
