The storm names for this winter have been announced by the Met Office and Met Éireann.
The first storm of the year will be female and will be named ‘Aileen.’
The gender alternates each year and follows Angus in the 2016-
The Met Office said surveys showed naming storms made people more aware of the bad weather and prompted them to take action to prevent harm to themselves or their property.
This year's names are: Aileen, Brian, Caroline, Dylan, Eleanor, Fionn, Georgina, Hector, Iona, James, Karen, Larry, Maeve, Niall, Octavia, Paul, Rebecca, Simon, Tali, Victor, Winifred.
