Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) has applied for planning permission to build a further 24 houses at Melbost Farm on the outskirts of Stornoway.

Some 16 of the semi-detached properties would be offered for rent.

It is proposed eight be sold to first time buyers under the Scottish Government’s shared equity scheme.

HHP intends to develop clusters of houses in stages on a farm field it has purchased opposite Parkend.

A number of homes are occupied while the building of another 16 properties, by the main road, is due to be finished by the year of the year.

The latest planning permission relates to a site behind the existing scheme and the under-construction section.
