A Swiss billionaire’s luxury yacht docked in Stornoway today during its voyage around Britain.

The £63 million Vive La Vie is owned by Willy Michel, a Swiss entrepreneur  who made his fortune in medical devices including insulin pumps.

The 72-year-old owns a number of pharmaceutical companies across the world.

The yacht departed Gibraltar last month, visiting Anglesey and Liverpool before setting course for Scotland.

The 60-metre-long German built steel hulled craft spent a period on the Clyde with handy access for guests flying in via Glasgow Airport.

For the Hebridean leg of its voyage, the Cayman Islands registered yacht craft called in at Oban, Skye and Ullapool before heading to Lewis.

Guests are expected to go sightseeing to the Callanish Standing Stones and Harris beaches.

Built in 2008, the yacht boasts a glass elevator which switches colour on request plus a suspended spiral staircase complete glass landings.

Designer lighting, with colour changing mood illuminations, is a striking feature on different decks and is also used in the glass elevator and suspended spiral staircase complete with glass landings.

White leather furniture, extensive use of light colours along with full height windows provide a bright airy interior during the day.

Other unique features include the dining saloon with a table which rises into the ceiling to covert the space into a dance floor.

The bed in the owner’s stateroom on the upper deck rotates to face the best view out of its expansive windows.

Up to eight guests are accommodated in four cabins on the main deck.

Twin engines - housed in a spotlessly clean white coloured soundproofed engine room -  power the yacht up to speeds of 16 knots.
