A lifeboat was called out after a man fell ill on the Barra ferry.

The captain of the MV Isle of Lewis notified Stornoway coastguard that there was a medical situation on board.

A passenger on board was experiencing seizures, and required medical assistance during the Castlebay to Oban sailing on Saturday.

The vessel diverted to Tobermory Bay.

Ambulance personnel from Mull boarded the lifeboat and taken out to the ferry.

The 58-year-old casualty was transferred onto the lifeboat and taken to an ambulance waiting at Tobermory harbour.
