Stramash Stornoway has received a £10,000 lottery award to continue to run its popular outdoor music festival for people in the Western Isles.

Local musicians of all ages will have the chance to hone their creative talents and performance skills whilst getting the invaluable experience of playing their music to a live audience.

The Awards for All Scotland grant will allow the organisers to buy their own marquee where they can hold their annual music festival.

Alasdair Allan commented: “Everyone involved in this successful bid should be congratulated for their work in obtaining the maximum grant possible.

“It’s fantastic to see a local project such as this get the support it needs from lottery funding.

"I know that the event has proved popular in the four years it has been running and that they have an excellent track record in raising money for charity, with £1400 donated to The Leanne Fund last year.”
