The Western Isles Conservatives are asking that the next Scottish Government reverse
the current legislation in implementing marine protected areas around the waters
of the Hebrides.
Local election candidate Ranald Fraser said: "The inhabitants of the Western Isles have been conserving their home waters for the last millennium without the need for outside intervention, this must be allowed to continue."
He added: "Local knowledge and tradition is too frequently marginalised nowadays in favour of central government edict usually in response to European over regulation. We must resist this."
