A Barra man has been jailed after he breached a court-imposed community payback order.

Sheriff David Hall imprisoned Neil Ferguson of  5 St Michael’s Cottages, Castlebay, for four months for repeatedly harassing and frightening his ex-wife.

Lochmaddy Sheriff Court previously heard the 49-year-old court told her he was “going to haunt you for the rest of my life,” during a series of “aggressive and intimidating” behaviour incidents.

The court was told he put the woman in a state of fear and alarm and, at one point, lunged towards her.

Ferguson repeatedly entered her home uninvited, refused to leave, and took the car keys from her vehicle.

In January, a restraining order to keep away from his ex-wife was imposed after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

In addition, he was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid community service work.

This week, the same court heard that Ferguson had breached his sentence.
