A man has been charged in connection with a break-in at the Bùth an Rubha community shop in Point, Lewis.

 

The 23-year-old was arrested last night.

 

Entry was forced overnight on Monday into Tuesday.

 

Police raided a property in the Stornoway area and recovered a number of items which had been removed from the shop.

 

The man is being reported to the procurator fiscal and is due to appear at Stornoway Sheriff Court in due course.

 

Detective Sergeant Iain Morrison of Western Isles police said: "We know that this incident has caused considerable concern in the local area and I'm grateful for the support of the public while we have been carrying out enquiries.

 

"Our investigation is ongoing and anybody who has information which could assist us should call 101, quoting reference NH3576, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
