It is sad the way that John Macdonald, local SNP convenor, has sought a rather emotional and underhanded way to try and divert the electorate's view from the fact that the SNP was the only party not to become involved in a debate about fuel tax a few years ago in these islands.
After all, this certainly contradicts the way the SNP press spokesman for Mr MacNeil was trumpeting how he was solely responsible for this change the other day.
Understatement, humility and modesty are clearly not the strengths of the Western Isles SNP. Perhaps they should aspire to it. There is little doubt that it would suit the level of Mr MacNeil's achievements much more.
