Lottery funding for island projects              9/4/14

 

SNP MP Angus MacNeil has welcomed the announcement that three island projects have been successful in applying for a combined total of £596,094 worth of funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Community Spaces Scotland grant programme.

 

Angus MacNeil said: “I am delighted to see that Back Football and Recreation Club, Barra Children’s Centre and Breasclete Community Association have been successful in their funding application.

 

“The efforts made by community groups to develop projects that can access this funding is great example of the importance of these groups and everyone involved deserve every credit and I wish them continued success as they progress their community projects.”

 

Back Football and Recreation Club get a £193,750 Community Spaces Scotland grant for a synthetic pitch and indoor equipment at the recently built all-weather arena.

 

Barra Children's Centre has been awarded £176,799 to build allow more space for nursery classes, community activity and community health services.

 

Breasclete Community Association receive £225,545 to develop a play park and eco-garden on a disused plot of ground beside Breasclete primary school, and community centre. Plans include a shelter for older children and a fenced area next to the nursery school where very small children can be supervised.
