Lord Carloway

Lord Carloway has been appointed as the new Lord President - the most senior judge in the Scottish justice system.

The 61-year-old, whose mother hails from Carloway in Lewis, succeeds Lord Gill who retired from the post in May.

His full name is Colin John Maclean Sutherland. He was born in Falkirk and studied at Edinburgh University.
