Sir,

I am no fan of Loganair's poor and apparently worsening, service. I am also equally annoyed at the vague, general comments by Loganair spokespeople, and to an extent by Mr MacKay. As an example, at this precise moment who cares if Loganair are recruiting apprentices - unless of course it is to join the board, then I wholeheartedly agree.

My recent flight to the mainland was delayed by 90 minutes and my flight home on 6th was delayed by 2 1/2 hrs. I do however thank Loganair for the prompt issue of a snack voucher - this is clearly one part of their service in which they are both experienced and competent. In the past three months members of my family have flown 12 times and only once been within an acceptable distance of schedule.

Come on Loganair and Scottish Government. Get a grip and give us some real answers on where we are going, some specific information on the causes of delays and cancellations and finally some sort of corporate financial penalty for poor performance. As an example, how does ScotGov supported lifeline service performance compare with the performance on routes which are not receiving subsidy, etc? In a six sigma industry this level of delivery is really not on, particularly when the public purse is involved.

By the way I don't want a lot of my taxes wasted on a feasibility study, I suspect a quick phone call to an aviation expert would tell them that this is a non-starter. I believe we have to use a recognised competent and well equipped aviation provider.
