MV Loch Seaforth set for Christmas-time maiden voyage

MV Loch Seaforth is homeward bound

“Outstanding results” for MV Loch Seaforth

The new £42 million MV Loch Seaforth is due to visit her home port tomorrow (Sat) for a short spin.

The ever-delayed 7,800 gross ferry will be unable to dock as the pier is not ready.

The Loch Seaforth is expected to arrive in Stornoway Bay around 3pm.

She will leave after about 10 to 15 minutes.

A Cal Mac spokesman said the vessel will be in the area “as part of crew familiarisation exercises.”

He added: “She will be unable to berth on this occasion.”

Cal Mac said no date has yet been confirmed for her entry into service.

She is presently laid-up on the Clyde until the extension of Stornoway’s number three pier is completed.

Civil engineers faced problems in strengthening the pier to handle robust berthing.
