Loch Ness monster needs the Union     15/9/14

Sir,

It seems the independence debate has caused absolute pandemonium across Scotland. It is also evident that many in the ‘Yes’ camp are becoming hysterical and fanatical in their craving to see our grand country separated from the Union. Instead of intellectually reflecting on the dire consequences this will inevitably have, they continue to be swept away by a frenzied tide of emotional jubilation that is akin to the imagined euphoria of seeing the Loch Ness monster. They have little or no thought whatsoever of what is going to tragically happen when they are actually face-to-face with her.

Nessie will be the first to tell us that she is utterly dependent upon the Union, and all are subjects, for her continuing existence. In fact the evidence of her existence is, as a Scotsman recently pointed out, stronger that any claim or case for separation. Let us all be wise, both now and for the future, and vote not with an emotional or irrational mind-set but rather with intelligence and common sense. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not be swallowed by our own pride. Scotland is already a great and grand country, let us keep it like that by voting no, no, no.
