People from Canada, the US, Australia, Liberia, Sweden, China, Bangladeh, Rwanda, Germany and across the UK are signed up to take part in the annual Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K.

The event, organised by Uig residents, Kirsty and Tony Wade, takes place on the Valtos Peninsula on Saturday.

All funds raised will go towards providing young Afghan women with scholarships to study medicine in Afghanistan.

The 10K start line is at the Cnip end of Reef Beach and runners, walkers of all ages, and dogs – on a lead to prevent accidents – are welcome to join for the 12noon start.

People unable to join in Uig on the day, but would like to give your support, can sign up to run or walk wherever they happen to be.

Registration for the Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K is open on the day or at www.lindanorgrovefoundation.org
