Stornoway lifeboat went to the aid of a small sea angling boat which had broken down off North Tolsta with two persons on board at lunchtime Wednesday.

On arrival the volunteer RNLI crew established a tow line between the lifeboat and the stricken vessel, the Shamrock, and towed the boat to Brevig harbour.

Local fishing vessel Jannine took the casualty into the safety of Brevig Harbour.

On Monday, the lifeboat crew responded to the declaration of a full emergency at Stornoway Airport.

A light aircraft coming in from the north was in trouble, and the RNLI lifeboat launched to stand-by at the end of the runway.

The light aircraft, which had one person on board, landed safely and the lifeboat returned to berth.
