Stornoway lifeboat went to the aid of a fishing vessel in trouble off the east coast of Lewis.

The local shellfish vessel with three crew onboard lost steering and was drifting due to a damaged rudder.

The alarm was raised just before 2pm and the lifeboat launched to help the 11 metre long vessel which was about two miles north of Tiumpan Head lighthouse.

A line was secured and the lifeboat towed the casualty back to Stornoway harbour.
