A Stornoway man has been jailed following a series of motoring offences.

Ian Murdo Macmillan was also banned from driving for life.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to four charges when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

The court heard he took a car without consent and without insurance on Saturday 4 April.

Macmillan - who received a ten-year driving ban last year - also admitted he drove while disqualified.

Police suspected Macmillan, whose address was given as 38 Springfield Road, Stornoway, of drink driving but he failed to provide a breath test.

Given his past record, Macmillan was sentenced to prison for eight months.
