A Stornoway eatery has closed its doors after three months of trading.

The Lido Bistro restaurant in Cromwell Street received rave reviews for its food, service and friendly staff since it opened in June.

A message from the business owners, Paul and Kelly Widdup, read: "With deep regret, due to various personal and work circumstances, we have decide to close the Lido.

"It was a very difficult decision to make, but trying to juggle the hours needed there and with the kiddies, we couldn't devote enough hours to both.

"The lease is up for tender and there are a few people interested in it, so I'm sure it won't be long before it's open again.

"We hope that whoever takes it over makes a success with it.

"We would like to thank you all for your support and also to Norman L Macdonald for giving us the opportunity of running it."

The couple formerly ran the Gourmet street food wagon service in Perceval Square in Stornoway town centre.

Councillors recently introduced a ban on drink and hot food being sold in that location.

The Lido was named after a well-known Scots - Italian cafe which traded from the same spot many years ago.
