Two community libraries are set to officially close this year with opening slashed in others.

Daliburgh library is due to shut at the end of June.

Shawbost public library has been closed on a temporary basis since April 2016. The closure can now be confirmed as permanent said the council.

From 1st May,  Castlebay and Tarbert libraries are earmarked to reduce to opening 25 hours per week.

The changes will save an estimated £13,662 per year.

The council proposes a different way of delivering the service including working with community partners to establish community library points in key areas.
