Closing the Stornoway Library coffee shop would save £10,000 a year highlights a council's budget choice report .

The report says the library cafe has been running at a cumulative loss of £48,442 over the last four years.

It is not possible to make the business breakeven under the current set-up.

It is proposed to close the coffee shop at 31 March 2016 but continue to provide some light refeshments.

The facility - which is run by Comhairle staff - provides five jobs though one post is currently vacant.

Early retirement or redeployment within the council look like options for staff.
