Injured casualty transferred to mainland hospital      5/3/13

An injured 44-year-old man who fell down cliffs on Lewis has been transferred to a mainland hospital.

The casualty was rescued by Stornoway coastguard volunteers and airlifted to the Stornoway hospital by rescue helicopter after he fell about 20 feet in the dark at Garrabostt on Sunday night.

He is believed to have his hurt his leg after landing on a shingle shore.

The man raised the alarm by dialling 999 on his mobile phone and the emergency maritime services went to his aid.
