Camanachd Leòdhais hope to get their home season off to yet another belated start on Saturday with the visit of last year’s North Division Three champions, Caberfeidh.

The Strathpeffer club were worthy champions last year, but league reconstruction saw them remain in the same league as Lewis.

This first Ross-shire derby of the season will be a good test for Iain Sinclair’s team. Lewis managed a fine home victory over Cabers last year to delay their title coronation, but Sinclair’s young squad will have to be on point to upset the applecart again.

Several mainland-based players are missing from the game, including Seumas Charity who is at a wedding and James MacRae who picked up a thumb injury against Skye.

The coach will therefore be turning to youth, and opportunities should abound for Ronan Sinclair and Scott Macleod who impressed against the Sgitheanaich.

Paul Duke will also get the chance to finally play his 100th game for the club.

Kick-off is 2.30pm at Shawbost.

Crawford Maclellan is taking training on Wednesdays now at Stornoway Primary, working on both skills and fitness.

Crawford recently also played for SCOTS Camanachd, the Forces Shinty Team, as part of the Festubert Commemorations in Portree.

The club is running yet another Summer Shinty Camp the week of Hebcelt from the 13th to the 17th of July - part of a week of events connected with shinty, involving the highly successful and acclaimed Shinty Heroes concert featuring Hugh Dan MacLennan and Gary Innes on the Thursday and the traditional HebCelt Cup v Uist on the Saturday.

Information about the Shinty Camp can be found by contacting Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais.
