The Leanne Fund has secured a funding package of £133,301 from the Big Lottery Fund to allow expansion to the Grampian area and support many more people affected by cystic fibrosis.

The charity - set up in 2009 in memory of Leanne Mitchell from Point in Lewis - already operates across the Highlands and Islands.

The money will be used for a three year development project.

Ann Marie Murray, chair of The Leanne Fund said: “We are absolutely delighted to secure this crucial funding which will allow us to build on our work to assist even more individuals with cystic fibrosis and their families.

“This is a hugely significant milestone for us which will allow us to recruit a staff member to develop this service."

The development project includes plans to support those affected by cystic fibrosis with fitness plans and equipment; counselling; complementary therapies and the administration of small grants and crisis funds.
