One of the world's leading presbyterian theologians is the speaker at the Lewis Christian Conference taking place this weekend.

Dr Sinclair Buchanan Ferguson retired in 2013 as Senior Minister of First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina, and returned to his native Scotland.

Prior to this he held the Charles Krahe chair for Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary and served Church of Scotland congregations in Unst (Shetland) and Glasgow (St George’s Tron). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen (1971).

Dr Ferguson has authored many books and is a trustee and a former editor of The Banner of Truth Trust. He retains his position as Professor of Systematic Theology at Redeemer Seminary, Dallas, Texas, and continues to preach God’s Word in churches and at conferences.

There will be three conference meetings (on Friday, Saturday and Monday) at 7.30 pm in Stornoway High Churc.

Dr Ferguson will also preach in the High Fellowship and Point Free Church on Sunday.

There will also be a Fellowship for All in the Stornoway High Church on Sunday at 8.30 pm.

It is anticipated that there will be a number of representatives from Christian organisations such as The Christian Institute, Christian Focus Publications in attendance over the conference weekend.
