Uist and Harris ferry travellers face disruption getting through Skye due to a landslide on a section of the main route.

Over 100 tonnes of debris washed onto the A87 trunkroad at Luib outside Broadford. The route runs from the Skye bridge to the ferry port.

Mud debris blocked both lanes for a period.  With no diversion route available traffic was held up for hours.

Bear Scotland has commenced a clear-up operation.

CalMac warned the road section is still restricted in both directions.

Only one lane is running and motorists are advised to take care while travelling in the area.

Meanwhile, the A9 Inverness to Perth road is closed in both directions following a serious crash between two HGV trucks near Carrbridge junction. Diversions are in place.

Ferries which were cancelled earlier due to severe weather have since resumed service.

MV Lord of the Isles left Tarbert - where she had been stormbound - with a force seven tailwind.

MV Hebrides is venturing into the same wind as she restarts sailings to catch up with a backlog of traffic.
