The comhairle is checking all the lamp posts around Goathill Road in Stornoway after a street light came crashing down in high winds.

It was later disconnected and removed to avoid electrocuting anyone.
A council spokesman said: “The damage to the lamp post was as a result of the high winds.
“The post was found to have been corroded at the base level and we are currently inspecting other posts in the vicinity to ensure there is no risk of a repeat.”
