 Local Services

Hebrides News

Sir,

It might have been a bit much to expect the local Labour Party to recognise some of the good work that is taking place locally and nationally. Like the SNP group on the Comhairle fighting to save our services and put money back in our pockets, or our MP and MSP trying their best for ordinary families in the face of savage cuts inflicted on Scotland by the Westminster Government. Or even for Labour to get excited about the good news that ferry fares are being slashed by 60% on inter-island routes.

But, sadly, we can all clearly see what the Labour Party worries about. Some stickers on a bus shelter (Letters 29th October).

Now I should point out to Mr Bruce that election paraphernalia belonging to Councillor Crichton’s Labour Party campaign can still be seen, fluttering on lampposts, some five years later!

It would suit Mr Bruce far better to persuade his Labour councillors, independent and otherwise, to get behind councillor Gordon Murray and fight for cheaper electricity for our communities in our energy rich island.

Just once it would be refreshing for the Labour Party to try and do something positive for a change, rather than them continually being the personification of petulance.
