Hebrides News

Sirs,

Again the Labour Party in Scotland are doing their best to mislead the electorate by telling us that a vote for the SNP will only result in Cameron returning to 10 Downing Street.

The only thing which will return David Cameron to Downing Street is to vote Conservative.

The current polls indicate a hung parliament with no party having an overall majority.

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has made it abundantly clear that her party won't enter into coalition with the Tories under any circumstances. New Labour's desperate claims defy any logical thinking and is a ploy to gain votes without any commitment to the electorate.

We shouldn't forget that New Labour in January, walked through the Westminster Lobbies with their Tory pals to pass legislation for further £35 billion worth of cuts (the same lobby that Mr Morrison would have walked through). These cuts are again aimed at the poorest in society who have already been punished over the past 5 years.

Make no mistake, a Labour government will implement similar cuts as their Tory friends. Our own council is facing £9 million cuts this year because of Westminster's unfair austerity programme. The cuts will be greater in years to come. Is this Labour showing us their commitment towards a fairer society, a society where the poor are expendable.

We all remember it was New Labour who got us into this mess. Their banking policies, only benefited the bankers and the wealthy through bonuses and investment returns. Ordinary people saw very little benefit from Labour's casino banking legislation, yet we are to pick up the bill. A vote for Labour is a vote to be kept poor.
