If Christine MacSween (Letters 11th April) were to look at the results of the 2012 election to the Comhairle, she might recall that the official Labour Party candidate for Stornoway North won a derisory 2% of the vote.

Which, in a nutshell, is why the Labour candidates in the 2017 election have decided to hide their affiliation and try to win election by deception. By claiming to be "independent" when they are card-carrying members of a political party is dishonest and cowardly.
