Bunch of chancers 29/1/12
Sirs,
Re: Point Councillors backs the Transport Groups demands for the the re instatement of RET on road haulage.
That was a party political statement if ever there was one. If we cast our minds back a few years we can recall the independent councillor Mr DJ Macsween and his Labour Party colleagues totally opposing RET but now banging the drum for its reinstatement. That tells me everything i need to know about this group of chancers.
People should not confuse genuine protest with blatant electioneering. This man and his pals have been in the council far too long and should be voted out.
Let a new generation take over and give them a chance to take the Islands into better times. Donald John and his pals didn’t cut the mustard and should now bow out gracefully before we end up in a third world situation like Glasgow.
Donald John is obviously spoiling for a fight with the SNP hence the unwarranted attack on Alasdair Allan and he probably feels he can get away with his unpleasant remarks safely tucked away in this group, something similar to the independent label he wears when we all know different, bit of a coward i would say.
He has obviously forgotten the mauling and the total rejection the Labour Party received at the last two elections. I do hope the good people of Point have the sense to put their X in a different box this time round.
One of the main reasons for these protests is the current price of fuel in the Highlands and Islands something the SNP MPs are trying to reverse and of course the Labour MPs are either abstaining or voting with the Tories.
I am quite sure the Scottish Government will come up with a solution to suit but i would like to see evidence that the hauliers are passing on these savings to customers to be honest I haven’t noticed any difference. I know for a fact that certain hauliers charge 10% extra on goods shipped from Glasgow to the Islands even whilst getting RET benefits.
And finally A big apology to Mr Campbell from Uist for calling him a loony leftie, didn’t realise he was a Tory. Sorry.
