The Western Isles are being “let down by the inaction” of their MP and MSP regarding ferry services, according to Parliamentary candidate Alasdair Morrison.

Mr Morrison said: “I was shocked to hear Alasdair Allan MSP state on Radio nan Gàidheal this morning that it is “too early to be discussing the ferry tender process.”

The Labour candidate said: “This amounts to nothing more than a shameful attempt to avoid discussing a matter of fundamental importance to every family and business in these islands.

“The SNP representatives refused to state that they oppose the privatisation of our ferry services.

“Today’s astonishing statement is further evidence that both our MSP and MP are completely out of touch with what’s happening in our islands.

“Our communities and businesses are suffering and no-one is listening.”
