Korean Presbytery visit is off 1/2/12
By Bill Lucas
The Western Isles Presbytery of the Free Church decided yesterday (Tuesday)
not to send a delegation to the 100th anniversary of the Kyoungki Presbyterian Church
of Korea because of the present economic situation and the current budgetary situation
in the Presbytery.
There have been exchange visits between representatives of the two presbyteries over the past number of years. The centenary meeting will be held in Korea on April 10.
Following a report from the Business Committee of the Presbytery it was decided to continue their fraternal and prayerful relations with the Kyoungki Presbytery and explain to them the reasons that they were unable to send delegates on this occasion. It was agreed to send their fraternal greetings to the centenary meeting.
It was also decided to write to the Ecumenical Relations Committee of the Free Church
recommending that the relationship with the Kyoungki Presbytery be reconstituted
as a relationship between them and the Free Church of Scotland, due to the disparity
in size that existed at present and for the wider benefit of the Free Church and
the Kyoungki Presbytery.
