Kerry MacPhee has clinched the Scottish Cycling National Cross Country Championship title.

The 29-year-old of Kilpheder, South Uist, won the top spot after a gruelling 20 mile cross country mountain bike race in Dumfries at the weekend.

She maintained a 10 minute led over the other competitors to win the woman’s title in 1 hour 50 minutes through Dalbeattie Forest.

The race course featured technical terrain, including single tracks, steep descents, rock, roots and sharp climbs.

Kerry - who represented Scotland in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow  this summer - said it was a “deceptively tough course.”
