Jeremy Corbyn is scheduling an August trip to the Western Isles which the Labour Party eye as a winable seat.

The SNP lost votes in June’s general election when isles’ MP Angus MacNeil suffered a reduced majority of just over one thousand votes.

Labour reckons it can capitalise on the downward trend particularly if a second election is called in the autumn.

It aims for a comeback in Scottish politics having been reduced to only one MP in 2015 general election and hammered in the May council elections.

Buoyed by the June results where they won seven seats - the party is still on an election footing.

As well as the Hebrides, Mr Corbyn plans to campaign in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Fife which are also in Labour’s sights.
